“ I really enjoyed coming to this restaurant. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and the vibe was really nice. I appreciate how the owner communicated regarding the time it takes to prepare the food. I ordered oxtails with rice and peas, and plantains. The oxtail was very tender and well seasoned. You could tell this was a family-run spot where the food is made with love and tradition. I ordered the oxtail sushi roll (yes, you read that right!) and it was absolutely excellent, tender, flavorful, and so creative. My friend got the jerk pork and the portion was massive. “ We’re in love with Island Cho and its ability to bring the best authentic Caribbean cuisine to North Haven! Family/woman owned you can feel the love in all the dishes. Naturally, we wanted to try the things that aren’t readily offered anywhere else so we indulged in beef patty, shrimp, wrapped in plantains, curry, dishes, sushi - yes sushi, fried chicken, and all the amazing side dishes that complement the leading star of each plate. They do serve wine and beer, which if you’re like me, you always appreciate a good wine pairing with a local dish. The service is highly personal and great! If you’re looking for an intimate and tasty experience, stop reading and GO! ”
“ I can’t really express how good their roti is! 5 stars is an understatement. And that salt prune wine shot! Good lawd! I ordered chicken roti with pumpkin and spinach, sorrel, and a shot of salt prune wine. I traveled 40 min from Hartford to this restaurant and every mile was worth it! ”

I was perfectly fine with that because as a Caribbean myself I know the food will take a while to cook so it can be fresh. The atmosphere was really nice and I enjoyed the Caribbean feel of it all. They took our order as soon as we came in and told us the time on how long it would take, so if you plan to come here and dine-in, I would advise you to be prepared to wait. Once the food came out it was beautifully displayed and really good. I enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back. ”

“ We got the stew chicken and the curry goat with a variety of sides. The portion size was large we got 2.5 meals out of it, the food was extremely flavorful and well cooked. The goat slid right off the bone. The service was excellent, everything is made to order not cafeteria style so it’s very fresh. The owners are very attentive and courteous they made sure my daughter and I were comfortable and taken care of while the food was prepared. 10/10 would recommend and will be a new frequent stop of ours! ”
